Course removal.
If your course would rather not be here, email me and I will take it down. You do not have to give a reason, and you do not need a lawyer to ask.
How to ask
Email info@lucasgreenbook.org from an address at the course, or from anywhere if you say who you are. Name the course. That is the whole process — there is no form and no appeal to work through.
What I do when you ask
- Within two business days, usually the same day. I reply to confirm I have it, and the book comes down.
- Everything goes, not just the page. The course page, the PDF, the listing on the home page, the entry in the sitemap, and the copy bundled in the iOS app on its next release.
- I stop posting printed copies of that course, and I do not rebuild it.
- I will not argue with you about it. If you change your mind later, that is fine too — email me again.
The one thing I cannot do is reach into a copy that has already gone out. Books already in players' hands were given out under terms that let them keep and pass on what they have, so a copy in a golf bag stays in that golf bag. I take down the source; I cannot recall paper.
Why this page exists
Every book already says a course can ask for removal. This page is here so that promise is somewhere you can find without opening a PDF, and so the answer is the same whoever asks.
What the books actually are
It may help to know what you would be looking at before you decide. The books are made by one person, and built entirely from public data, without setting foot on any course:
- Hole and green shapes from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL 1.0).
- Slope, contours and arrows computed from public-domain USGS 3DEP elevation and LiDAR — a U.S. Government work.
- Par, yardage and handicap read off the published scorecard.
Nothing is affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by any course, club or association. Your course name and marks are yours; they appear only to say which course a book is for. No club logo, crest, photograph or aerial image of yours is reproduced anywhere, and no commercial green-reading product's data, artwork or page design was used.
Every data source and its licence is published in the open, at
the project's
legal/ record. The provenance of your own course's book, source by source,
is on file and I will send it to you on request.
Other requests
Not asking for removal, but something on a card is wrong — a green rebuilt, a yardage changed, a hole renumbered? Email the same address and I will fix it or pull the card. I would rather print nothing than print something wrong.
